In 1935, a school teacher turned goldsmith — Late Sri Voderbettu Venkatesh Kamath — opened a jewellery shop on Car Street, Mangalore. What began as one man's craft became a family's calling.

While newer showrooms marketed themselves, Popular Gold Mart quietly adorned three generations of Mangaluru families for every occasion that mattered — weddings, namakaran, housewarmings, anniversaries.

Late Sri Voderbettu Venkatesh Kamath, a former school teacher, opens his jewellery shop — the beginning of a Mangaluru gold family that endures across three generations.

1960s

Second generation expands the legacy

Sons Vishwanath Kamath and Surendranath Kamath grow the business, introducing diamond jewellery and establishing additional Mangaluru locations.
